Transformers Dark of the Moon was my first foray into the world of live action visual effects. I was fortunate enough to go to Chicago and shoot reference photography which I then used as a basis to create 2.5D digital matte painted environments. The matte paintings were augmented with 3D set dressing, vehicles and lots of damage and destruction. I also painted in additional golden hour sun and dappled lighting effects to give more of a classic Michael Bay look to the shots.
